Description of the product/ project

In order to achieve the vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the kingdom has identified various delivery channels for providing the eServices to the citizens. One of the prime channels identified is the national portal for the Kingdom.
The eGovernment portal www.e.gov.bh was commissioned on 23rd May 2007 by the Deputy Prime Minister HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa. The portal is being managed by the eGovernment Authority (eGA).
As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national strategy to execute the comprehensive e-Government programmes and under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Ahmed Bin Ateyatala Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs, the eGA announced and unveiled a new simplified portal address www.bahrain.bh in November 3rd 2008. As a result of a customer survey that revealed the difficulty of memorizing the old address by the customers.  The eGovernment Portal is a ‘one stop shop Portal’ and is the key service delivery channel for individuals, business, tourist and government, which integrates and provides all types of services ranging from informational to transactional under one single umbrella.

Jury Evaluation The eGovernment Portal of Bahrain is an excellent example of ‘one stop shop’ for delivery of key government services for individuals, business, tourist and government through a single online channel. In addition to the e-services the portal provides comprehensive online information on government rules and regulations, agencies and directories, forms and other useful information resources like citizen / customer charters of key ministries.
The national portal charter which is available in Arabic and English is aligned with Bahrain Strategic Vision 2030 to provide informational, interactive and transactional services, including online payment facility and a platform for customers to give their feedback and participate in framing government policies.
