Bahrain eGovernment Authority hosts workshop on upgrading digital processes
Actively encouraging creativity in local e-content in Bahrain
Manama, Bahrain, November 12 2008: eGovernment Authority Bahrain in cooperation with Gulf Future Business (GFB), recently held a workshop titled "Upgrading Digital Level”, aimed at spreading awareness about eContent and technology across Bahrain.
The two day workshop, led by e-media advisor Mr. Jack Bomans from the Netherlands, was attended by nearly 40 participants from various government and private institutions in Bahrain. During the workshop Mr. Pumens highlighted several topics including introduction to e-content, background on the WSA (World Summit Awards), e-content classifications and arbitration criteria.
Mr. Isa Abdul Rahman, Director of marketing and awareness, eGovernment Authority said: “This workshop is a part of the eGovernment Authority’s initiative to encourage creativity in local e-content, and encourage entries to the Bahrain eContent Award 2009, Excellence e-Government Award 2009, and Arab eContent Award – leading to submissions by the winners to the global World Summit Awards (WSA). WSA is a worldwide contest that honours and promotes the world’s best e-content in various fields including, eBusiness, eCulture, eGovernment and many others.
Praising the e-initiatives of Bahrain, Mr. Boman said: "The workshop demonstrates the government’s interest in striving to develop an e-content industry in Bahrain, by spreading awareness on the importance of technology and preparing staff to creatively deal with eContent..”
Mr. Ahmed Al-Hujairi, CEO of Gulf Future Company, added that this workshop was held as part of the ongoing strengthening of links between the public and private sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain to raise awareness about the importance of e-content and its role in the development of an industry which can creatively benefit from the capabilities offered by e-media, in particular the Web."
This workshop was held as a part of the media and awareness campaign for the launch of the Bahrain eContent Award 2009, which aims at increasing participants’ awareness on the importance of developing local e-content and encouraging creativity in e-businesses in the Kingdom.
