1. What is Bahrain eContent Award?
The Bahrain eContent Award is organized by the Ministry of Industry & Commerce (MOIC) and the Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) under the patronage of the Minister of Industry and Commerce, HE. Dr. Hassan Abdulla Fakhro, It is inspired by the World Summit Award (WSA) in order to select quality eContent products and promote creativity and innovation in the development of new media applications in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This competition is held every two years and on the basis of which is the nomination of winners to the World Summit Award (WSA).

4. What are the Rules of the competition?
- The BAHRAIN eCONTENT AWARD is open to any company, organisation and individual active in the content industry and based in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
- The presented e-product must be produced fully or partially by a Bahraini individual or company, which must reflect Bahrain's local morals and traditions without any advocacy for racism, secularism, nudity, gambling, or any indecent content.
- The participant must register his/her e-product based on the correct category set by the Award regulations. The Award judges have the right to disqualify any work submitted that does not follow the correct category set by the Award regulations.
- The participant must provide the appropriate electronic access to his/her submitted e-product for evaluation purposes by the judging team.
- Award results announced by the organizing team are final.
- Entries can be made in any United Nations language.
- All entries have to be complete products or applications and include instructions for installation and use. No drafts, demonstrations or unfinished prototypes are accepted.
- Incomplete submissions and those not conforming to the published guidelines will be disqualified without further notice. There is no possible legal recourse against these decisions.
- Submitters are held responsible for the smooth functioning of their products and applications.
- Pictures, sound, content and software etc. must have copyright permission and the uses of all software should be legal.
- All materials submitted become the property of the organisers and will not be returned. One copy of the submitted product will be archived for the record. No commercial use of this archive may or will be made.
- All offline products must be sent by the producers to the BEA office in Manama and arrive no later the November 30th. The BEA office does not accept mailing or transport costs for any entry.
- With completion of registration, participants in the Award accept the rules, guidelines and Award criteria governing BAHRAIN eCONTENT AWARD.
- The registration and submission process of a product to the evaluation itself does in no way entitle it to specific benefits. There is no possible legal recourse against the organisers.
5. In which language you can fill in the registration form?
The main language that is used to fill in the registration form is English.
6. How to subscribe in the Award?
You can subscribe in the Award by following these steps:
- Step 1 : Started with registering the required information which related to the responsible person/ responsible party through the award website www.bea.bh .
- Step 2 : registering the required information which related to the participated product.
- Step 3 : Singing the Release Form and send it by Fax to the organized committee.
- Step 4 : send the participated product on a CD.
- If the participated product is Online, you should send 15 snapshots of the product and if it’s Offline, you should send 15 snapshots besides 5 copies of the electronic project and the required instructions to save it.
7. What are the evaluation criteria?
All e-products will be evaluated according to criteria which are tied to the concept of value added for users and e-contents for a purpose, and the following are the evaluation criteria:
- Quality and comprehensiveness of content
- Ease of use: functionality, navigation and orientation
- Value added through interactivity and multimedia
- Attractiveness of design (aesthetic value of graphics/audio)
- Quality of craftsmanship (technical realisation)
- Strategic importance for the global development of the Information Society
8. When will be the announcement of the winners ?
The winners in Bahrain eContent Award will be announced in January 2009, then they will nominate to the World Summit Award in February 2009.
